Frequently asked questions

Do you really mean “Clothing Optional”?

If this is your first time at a nudist resort, try to put those anxieties aside. It is really like any other resort except people aren’t wearing clothing. Nudity is encouraged when weather and health permit.

We find a freedom and joy in nudity; however we are practical people as well. No one will force you to disrobe. Especially in the summer months, the vast majority of people will be totally nude.

Will my picture be taken or my privacy compromised?

Avalon Resort understands that privacy is paramount to our members and their families. Avalon will not sell or otherwise provide your information to third parties. There is never any requirement to be publicly identified or consent to having one’s picture taken as a condition of membership. (Photo identification is required for admission to clubs, along with other measures to ensure guest security.) And just for your peace of mind, the tasteful images that appear on our website have been taken with the written permission of the person(s) pictured.

Do I have to be nude to use the pools, hot tubs and sauna?

Nudity is required in the pools, sauna, and hot tubs. You will probably be surprised at how quickly you become comfortable. In truth, modesty is a lot of work, and once you drop it, you will experience the freedom that social nudism provides.

What’s this I hear about “Nude Etiquette”?
  • Practice good hygiene, shower and wash all your body parts with soap and water. Always keep a towel handy and put it over any furniture you sit on.
  • Don’t stare or “gawk” at other people who are nude. Refrain from any crude or lewd remarks about another persons body or appearance.
  • No photography. Save your picture taking for when nobody else is around and/or ask permission if anyone else is going to be included in your photographs or videos.

What do I do about a “Woody”?

Don’t think that just because you take your clothes off that you’re going to automatic get a “stiffy”. Sure its possible, but actually its pretty unlikely. But if it does happen just roll over on your stomach for a while, or cover up with a towel until the “situation” subsides.

We have noticed over the last few years though that the medical miracle known as the “little blue pill” has had a noticeable effect at clothing optional and nude resorts, especially around the pool or spa at night. We’re not telling you what to do, but just remember that the effects from those things can be pretty long lasting.

What about sexual activity and other behavior?

Public sexual activity is strictly prohibited and result in the termination and forfeit of your membership and other fees. We’d like to remind people that nudity isn’t consent. Just because people are enjoying being nude together doesn’t mean its consent to touch and make sexual remarks.
