Welcome to our FIRST annual Christmas in July celebration, hosted by Mike and Trish.
July 19-21

Friday

– Help decorate our Avalon Family Christmas tree (8 pm) – place to be determined by weather.  Also, we will decorate the pool area with Christmas decorations. Bring your favorite Christmas decoration or inflatable decoration to help decorate the pool area. Prizes given for Best Christmas decoration and best inflatable Christmas decoration. (Put your name on them using a post-it note, so we know who it belongs to)

(Hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, and Christmas music provided- no cost)

Saturday 

– 11 am until noon – barn or indoor pool, come decorate cut-out Christmas cookies (Take home what you decorate) -no charge 

– 2 pm – Mobile Happy Hour (share your favorite Christmas shot or beverage) 

– Prize awarded for Best Christmas shot/beverage 

– Prize for best Christmas decorated campsite or condo. 

– Prize for best Christmas decorated golf cart or vehicle participating in MHH.  Judging will take place during MHH, prize handed out that night at the Christmas Dance.

5 pm Christmas cookie contest. Prizes awarded for these categories 

 1. Prettiest cookie

 2. Most Christmassy cookie

 3. Best tasting cookie, non chocolate chip

 4. Best tasting chocolate chip cookie

 5. Most cookie varieties entered

(THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHOWCASE YOUR COOKIE BAKING SKILLS)

Enter as many types of cookies you want. Please make one batch of each cookie you make. Put 5 cookies on a wrapped tray set aside for the judges. Make 1 tray of 5 cookies for each type of cookie you enter. Write your name on the bottom of the judge’s tray so we know whose cookie won. (Blind tasting so put your names on the bottom of the plates) Put the rest of each batch of cookie on a wrapped tray or container.   They will be our Christmas dinner dessert! Judging starts promptly at 5 pm so please have your cookies delivered by 4:50 pm.

7 PM – Christmas potluck dinner, location TBD bases on weather.  Mike and Trish will provide Christmas ham and Christmas kielbasa.   Please bring a Christmas themed appetizer,  main dish, or side dish. Prizes awarded for best Christmas appetizer,  main dish, and side dish.  You are welcome to enter a dish for each category but please only enter one dish per category,  per person.  Put your name on all containers so we know whose dish it was.  There will be a table for each category so make sure you put your dish on the appropriate table.  Please have all dishes placed on the tables by 6:45 pm.  Judging starts at

 6:50 pm and the meal will start at 7 pm, after the Blessing.   Dessert will be the cookies made for the contest, set up on a traditional Christmas cookie table.  

8:30 PM, Santa arrives to hand out presents to all the good Avalon family.  Just be sure the Grinch doesn’t steal it away! 

Christmas Grab Bag – if you would like to participate,  please bring a new, never used, Christmas wrapped gift, worth at least $10.  

9 PM – Christmas Dance and pajama party.  Prizes will be awarded for

1.  Best male Christmas PJs

2.  Best female Christmas PJs

3.  Best male anything but clothing Christmas PJs 

4.  Best female anything but clothing Christmas PJs 

9:30 PM – All prizes won through the Christmas in July celebration will be handed out.  Winner must be present to win. 

There are AT LEAST 17 prizes being given for those who participate in our first annual Christmas in July with your Avalon Family! 

Sunday noon – help take down the tree, decorations and clean up after the party.  All those who help will go into a drawing for a gift card as a thank you for helping.   Gift card given out when everything is cleaned up and put away. 

Please let Trish or Cathy know by July 10th how many types of cookies you are making.  We don’t need to know what they are, just how many varieties so Trish can supplement to ensure we have enough for Christmas dinner.
